✅ 1. Bring a Valid Photo ID
Every registered voter must present an approved photo ID before receiving a ballot. Acceptable IDs include a New Hampshire or other state driver’s license, non-driver ID, U.S. passport, military ID, and certain other government-issued photo IDs.

✅ 2. Need to Register? Here’s How.
Not registered yet? No problem. Eligible voters may register to vote at their local clerk’s office, at a public session of the supervisors of the checklist, or at their polling place on Election Day. You’ll need documents that verify your identity, age, U.S. citizenship, and New Hampshire domicile (permanent residence). If you don’t have a photo ID, New Hampshire offers a voucher to offset the cost of a voter photo ID through the DMV. ✅ 3. Know Which Ballot You’ll Receive
September Primary
- Republicans vote in the Republican primary.
- Democrats vote in the Democratic primary.
- Undeclared voters may choose either party’s ballot. NOTE: An Undeclared voter will automatically be registered in the party in which they chose their ballot on Primary election day UNLESS the voter fills out the form returning their party status to Undeclared before exiting the polling location.
November General Election
- Every voter receives the same ballot for their district.

Polling locations and hours vary by community. Before Election Day, take one minute to verify:

- Your local polling hours
- Your registration status

✅ 5. Voting Absentee?
If you qualify to vote absentee, don’t wait until the last minute. Reach out to your local clerk’s office to request your ballot – do so EARLY and carefully follow the instructions for returning it.
