Phoenix, AZ— Arizona Democracy Defense Foundation (DDF) board member Congressman Matt Salmon recently joined election experts to discuss voter sentiment toward the 2026 election at the ASU Mechanics of Democracy Laboratory Fall Election Convening.
Elections experts and community leaders gathered in Phoenix to discuss longstanding election processes, solutions to election challenges, and common-sense reforms. Congressman Salmon joined Dr. Sybil Francis, Chair, President & CEO of Center for the Future of Arizona (CFA) and David Becker, Executive Director and Founder at Center for Election Innovation & Research, to analyze recent polling conducted by both CFA and DDF.
According to polling data from the Democracy Defense Foundation, Arizona voters are more confident in the 2024 election results compared to 2020. Similarly, Arizona voters have more confidence heading into the 2026 General Election. The poll surveyed Arizona voters on prominent issues this election cycle including the Governor and Secretary of State races and Proposition 144, the Voter Identification and Citizenship Voting Requirements Amendment, which is polling at 58% in favor, 42% against, and 1% undecided.
“We have an incredibly important election in a few weeks which will impact statewide decision making in Arizona,” said Congressman Matt Salmon. “ A lot of damage was caused six years ago with unfounded election fraud claims that have impacted voter confidence but we are seeing a shift toward restoring trust in our election system. Local leaders have worked diligently to combat misinformation and based on the data, those efforts are working. It’s clear we must continue this work and not become complacent in order to protect free and fair elections.”
